I have majorly upped my self-care game

I realize that we are all a bit wounded. We carry our history in many ways; I carry mine scratched into my flesh and as ridiculous overthinking in my brain. Some of us can’t commit or don’t want to commit to anything serious because we have been so hurt by what life has handed to us. Some of us sublimate our pain and desires into other distractions–work, food, wine. Most of us think we are not worthy in some way because we are older, odd, or fail to meet society’s expectations.

Wise people “will know what is right, do what is good, and therefore be happy”

Sometimes you can even help by not doing anything at all. When you do people around you become more friendly and experiences the smiles and laughs of other is what in the end brings happiness to my heart. The second connection that I made is that I made was with an idea of Aristotle. He believes that in order for us to be happy we need to be our true selves. I identify with the idea because this is who I am. I always think that I have the ability to help the other, and it’s my nature to take care of people.

A huge support for all of my goals has always been having a community behind me and making what I call ‘friendship dates’

In that way, we are supporting each other in shared goals during our date.

We are not only showing friends they are important to us in this way, but showing ourselves that we are important enough to choose the right people to be around for us and the right ways to use our limited time together.

I believe my fear of criticism is holding me back from working towards reaching a larger audience

I would really like to get back on track with my blog writing by meeting my weekly posting goal. I’m going to take the advice of Daphne Gray-Grant, publication coach, and do a little bit of writing each day, early in the morning when I am fresh and energetic. If you have any suggestions on topics that you would like me to cover at http://www.straighttalkprof.com, please let me know.

It is tricky to find me on social media so my brand is non-existent

My goal is to build my brand to a status where in the local soccer world (Indy Eleven and United Soccer League) my name at least rings some bells. I have been trying to connect with professionals in the areas I am passionate about. I have also tried to interact and engage with fellow fans. I try to interact with them but in such a busy area it does not happen overnight. Like Public Relations consultant and textbook author Karen Freberg said in her presentation in my Strategic Writing for Social Media class, “Use your content to provide value to help others.” Keeping this in mind will give me an edge in capturing the attention of professionals I want to connect with.

We want to be part of that certain community and by doing this we often set ourselves up to fail

Let go of the label and create your own rules. Choosing to do this, is about your values and that’s all that matters. Without the label, you can do YOU. Flexibility is what I need to commit but don’t be fooled, maybe you actually need the label to have strict rules to be able to stick to it. HA, it never is a one size fit all! Tricky, hey?

I personally don’t think the hype would be as huge if it weren’t for social media

Starbucks doesn’t just sell coffee, they sell the brand name. People like well known brands and brand named items. Starbucks definitely became a huge competitor and that’s because they did something and everyone copied, yet they get more publicity with everyone coming up with new drinks and rating them in videos and so on. Social media makes the biggest difference. Like I’ve said before, you either make something new or do the same thing as everyone else but better. I’m not planning on making a business even though I’ve had some intrusive thoughts about it late at night, but I do know that the direction I’m going in my career is going to still include social media to some degree. Almost everything does now. You can’t be a company and not have a website. You can’t sell your products without getting your name out there. I know that I would like to get into designing or printing and either one of those directions will at some point lead to advertising and/or marketing. Which again, you will definitely need to be online for. It may seem repetitive or redundant but the times are changing and a lot of the older generation isn’t keeping up or wanting the change. I’ve noticed that even in the jobs I have had. I’ve been in retail mostly and just the ApplePay or chip readers have surprised them and they don’t want to learn how to use it. Or just being able to solve a quick problem with the touch of a button on their phone but they refuse to do so. Yes, they didn’t grow up with it and it may be confusing but everyone has to be open to new things and learning. That’s how people stay up to date and successful. Just at least knowing what’s going on and the basics helps greatly. I am always open to learning new things and I think that’ll definitely help me with my career choice. That’s what I enjoy most; the always changing and never ending of it all. You never lose interest and there’s always more coming to look forward to. So, yeah I’m not in the job I would like to be but I still see the media all around.

You can do whatever it is you feel like whenever you want and in the long run, it won’t matter

The structures in society make sense. I mean, it makes sense how those structures evolved over time. But at some point I think we lost touch of what it is to be human, purely in the pursuit of practicality, techonoligcal advancement, logistics, industry, business, and worst of all; efficiency. We sacrifice so much of ourselves and the planets resources solely in the name of efficiency. Everything has to happen fast, everything has to be on demand, travel should be as short as possible, so you can get from one place to another to do the things you don’t really like faster and more efficiently. Mankind has gone completely crazy.
