While I chatted with my friend he pointed out parental influence and the child’s rebellion. In his opinion, parental influence should be minimal and end as soon as the child turns 18 and when the parent still refuses to let go, then it’s okay to rebel. I asked him why? He then went further to explain that “parents wants to insinuate old methods for new eventualities and most times they don’t work”.

We started the workout, and the warmup began. He watched me do a jump rope action as well as high knees and attempted both. I wish I had recorded it but the pure joy I got out of watching him try to jump and then step those tiny knees as high as he could was perfection. He was so proud of himself to keep up with me and what we were mimicking on the TV.

What do you owe your parents?

something I often hear, the fact that we owe everything to our parents. Well, I tend to disagree. We didn’t choose to be born, we didn’t choose if we wanted to be born. They did. Our parents wanted children for their desire, for them. It is true that, as children, we need food, clothes, a roof, money for our studies. And they did everything to give us that.
