Your audience wants to know that you know who they are, you’ve heard their issues, and you can help them

Keywords: Social Media , Marketing , Online Marketing , Personal Branding , Branding

People flock to someone who understands and can help them. When you study influencers or those with exceptional standing in their industry, that is their followers’ impression. He or she offers insight or provides a service that others need and use. If you are not sure if you are doing an excellent job at this, look for a third party to objectively look at your social media and anything else you put out to the public. Sometimes we need another set of eyes on what we do. Getting others’ opinions is not a sign of weakness; it is an example of strength and perseverance as you craft your best possible message to the masses.

Messing around

Wow! Gushing appreciation really feels wonderful. 🙂

Let me back up a bit. Some people don’t have an appreciation of language quite like mine. Most people. Almost all people. Maybe I’m strange.

Quite a few people (2, to be exact, I think) have gotten upset about how this blog has cited their work. Maybe about half of them have mentioned the name of this blog as objectionable.

I wonder how many people understand the way this term is used (colloquially). Even a plain and simple Google search would reveal an inkling of this — but I do not advise paying attention to Google, so whatever, nevermind.

It’s not lewd. It’s a newfangled word for “relationship” (without all of the “love”, “dating”, etc. attachments). It’s actually a quite ironic reversal of what average people might expect as to which term is more involved with heavy-hitting emotional baggage. Most people immediately see those four letters, and jump directly to prohibition.

But that’s all just introductory rambling on my mind.

Words (and the 8-letter string “fuckwith” is so commonly used, that it ought to be considered a word IMHO) make connections (I will spare you the details, but if you really want them, then go ahead and check out the work of super-smart dudes like Ludwig Wittgenstein and Noam Chomsky). When we express our thoughts with words, we make associations between the way we see things (and/or we describe relationships we recognise) in the real world.

The string “fuckwith” is especially ambivalent. Sometimes it means a clearly positive vibe, other times it means something like “fooling around” (or “messing around”), the way a so-called troll might behave. In both cases, it is very nonchalant.

Let me get to the point about why I started writing this post:

I came home and slept the best sleep I’ve had in weeks, filled with delightfully fun dreams

Velda wrote that in part because of my work with words! 😯

When I tell people that words and natural language are actually the most basic information technology there is, they tend to ignore what I just told them. Then within like 5 minutes, they will type a brand name into their computer or smartphone and actually believe whatever the brand name tells them. Brands are not words. Words are trustworthy. Brands are distrustworthy.

The number of apps available for chatting, texting, video chat, or just sharing things numbered about 250 in 2019 with somewhere around 3 billion users of at least 2 or more — that’s a lot of information being shared across these platforms every minute of every day

I am currently on almost all major social media apps and this blog site. These are the places I communicate or interact with others even before this pandemic occurred.

Some blind followers are ready to defend their idols to any extent

When fans come to the extent of protecting their idol from any valid criticism, the person being protected falls into something called the messiah complex, which basically is the kind of thinking where one sees whatever he/she does as absolutely correct, with no scope of further improvement or criticism.

If you’re too good to like a picture of my kids than we really aren’t friends

The company we worked at had a toxic team culture. When I left, I didn’t tell them where I was going. I didn’t want all these negative and toxic people to know about my new chapter. I did meet some lovely people at this company and I keep in touch with them to this day. The toxic ones I want to remove from my life. When I blocked this person and the rest of the toxic team members from all of my social channels, I felt a huge burden lifted. I periodically clean out my friends/contact list to this day. If you’re too good to like a picture of my kids than we really aren’t friends.

Just as with fiction books and blockbuster films, we shouldn’t trust what we see on social media as being the full story

Behind every book you read there’s been an entire production team, often including authors or ghostwriters, editors, agents, and publishing companies. Same goes for blockbuster films – I guarantee if it’s big budget, there’s an entire team dedicated to each minuscule portion of that film’s development and production. And whilst we’ve been fooled into thinking social media harnesses each individual voice, algorithms working behind the scenes are what determines the content we see. Therefore, it shapes how we feel about social media, as opposed to allowing us to connect directly with the hundreds of people we ‘follow’ or are ‘friends’ with, and making our own minds up about them. That masterful direction means we are being exposed to an edited version of people, even people we see every day in person. For all its awesomeness, social media cannot replace true human connection.

If you do not feel at home with your friend just being themselves at their worst/best then y’all ain’t homies

When you stressed and got problems. The homies say we’ll figure it out, the friends and acquaintances say you’ll figure it out. You don’t need to be close to be a homie. You don’t need to talk everyday to be a homie, you just need to be a home a person can find and seek comfort/support in when they need it. Support doesn’t mean giving money or anything monetary it means being with them so they know they won’t be suffering and crying alone in their mess. It means showing them they aren’t fighting for themselves, by themselves.‬
