The number of apps available for chatting, texting, video chat, or just sharing things numbered about 250 in 2019 with somewhere around 3 billion users of at least 2 or more — that’s a lot of information being shared across these platforms every minute of every day

I am currently on almost all major social media apps and this blog site. These are the places I communicate or interact with others even before this pandemic occurred.

Some blind followers are ready to defend their idols to any extent

Keywords: idols , inspiration , problemwithidols

When fans come to the extent of protecting their idol from any valid criticism, the person being protected falls into something called the messiah complex, which basically is the kind of thinking where one sees whatever he/she does as absolutely correct, with no scope of further improvement or criticism.

Just as with fiction books and blockbuster films, we shouldn’t trust what we see on social media as being the full story

Behind every book you read there’s been an entire production team, often including authors or ghostwriters, editors, agents, and publishing companies. Same goes for blockbuster films – I guarantee if it’s big budget, there’s an entire team dedicated to each minuscule portion of that film’s development and production. And whilst we’ve been fooled into thinking social media harnesses each individual voice, algorithms working behind the scenes are what determines the content we see. Therefore, it shapes how we feel about social media, as opposed to allowing us to connect directly with the hundreds of people we ‘follow’ or are ‘friends’ with, and making our own minds up about them. That masterful direction means we are being exposed to an edited version of people, even people we see every day in person. For all its awesomeness, social media cannot replace true human connection.

Even persons I looked up to completely lost their shit

World leaders who I thought would come through in times of crisis lost all sense of direction. And no I’m not writing this from a place of all calm and zen; it just hasn’t hit me yet.

If we just scan the internet all day for the latest doom and gloom statistics on COVID19, we will for sure, live in a state of panic and terror

And for an ENFP ((aka: (and I quote from the website): someone who lives for “the social and emotional connections they make with others)) — being holed up alone in a studio apartment is about as enjoyable getting a root canal.

Advertising on News @ YouTube — Natural Disasters / Tragic Events

If you watch this video (post by ABC10 Sacramento / Northern California)

do you see ads / adverts? (I saw clothing from Shein) Who is making money on this advertising? Only YouTube, or does ABC10 also get a cut?

Isn’t it sort of unethical to make money by posting videos of tragedy / death / dying / catastrophic events — isn’t that sensationalism gone sadistic?!?

When I was in pre-school, I asked for books on traffic laws and animals biology. I just wanted answers. I wanted to know more.

I also wandered around the neighbors in elementary school. Turned out the area I walked around was kinda sketchy. But I didn’t think much. I just wanted to see what’s out there, and then make my way to my friends where there would probably be banana pancakes.

Right around 2010, Paranormal Activity 2 came out. I remember being at my friend’s house, and we would watch it on her TV screen with maybe 10 or so others. I remember how noisy we were, and how it was comfortable surrounded by so many that even if a spirit came to drag one of us, the dozen of middle schoolers there would be able to fight back. I also remember I didn’t look at the screen that often…
