I mean my bed at home, snuggle up to my dog that is 5,000 miles away, and watch TV with commercials that I understand

We are all out of our comfort zones and no matter how hard your homesickness is, we all feel it at one point or another. Therefore, I am here to help. I can’t eliminate homesickness, and nothing but coming home can, but I know of ways to make it less important or ubiquitous, and I want to share them with you.

I’m an honest person, I wouldn’t want my “like” to support something I disagree with.

I’m more interested in talking about how we deal with this overwhelming feeling of not having it all figured out

I’ve found that one of the most incredibly difficult things for us to do as humans is be present. We’re either constantly reminiscing about the past or we’re overindulging in planning for the future. When in all reality, we’re only guaranteed the now. And even that’s arguable. Even when we convince ourselves to focus on “the now”, we often find ourselves pondering the “how”. How will I make this happen? How will I accomplish this? If I want to be married but I don’t even have a boyfriend/girlfriend – how? If I want kids someday but I don’t think I’ll ever be ready – how? If I want to finish school but I have to maintain a full time job & take care of family – HOW?! It’s like sensory overload when all of these thoughts creep into our minds. And once it starts, it’s painfully difficult to make it stop.

“Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.” helped give New Jersey a more prestigious place on the music map

“It is the spirit of the Jersey Shore,” said Eileen Chapman, Director of the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music at Monmouth University, which will hold The 50th Anniversary: Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. symposium on Saturday.  “I think it [inspired] not only Jersey pride, but pride that somebody we knew actually had the opportunity to do what they love. There was just a lot of pride in Bruce.”

An abusive relationship depends upon a pre-existing power imbalance that gives one partner the power to abuse in the first place

Keywords: {0}

In other words, you abuse your partner by abusing the power you have over the partner. You do this systematically. You do this over time. An abusive relationship might or might not be physically violent, but it is always — always — a massive mindf*ck in which the abused partner begins to accept the abuser’s twisted version of reality for reality itself. Anything that contradicts that reality — including the abused partner’s own instincts that something is very and increasingly wrong — gets cut off at the root.

If you want to learn how to be happy with “enough”, advertising is one of many obstacles to overcome on your journey. It’s like having a voice in the back of your head you’re not in control of. You may have “needs” that are not needs at all. How do you know that the desire for whatever consumer purchase you have in mind came from you and not from the mind of some advertising executive in NY? How many car commercials did you sit through during the last football game you watched? Human psychology (yes, yours too) is unfortunately easily manipulated. If it didn’t work, they wouldn’t do it.

As I was merrily working my way through my 100 Days of Cloud challenge, I was posting links to my articles across LinkedIn, Twitter and Reddit, not many people really replied, but then something happened. There were a few people that would reply to me more than once, or I would spot the same few people liking my posts all the time, so guess what I did? I had a look at their profile and started to see what they were posting about and to my amazement, wow there were doing similar things to me, and no doubt they were probably battling with the same doubts, or barriers that I was dealing with. so, I liked their posts as well, I offered them words of support and encouragement.

My life, to this point, has been a map of uphill, hair pin turns

Keywords: mom

I have had many mothers both biological, marital and those of honorary title through the years. Linda, who chose me at the age of 3 when she wed my father in her early twenties, has been the constant figure of maternal guidance in my world. She is turning 60 this week. My brother has organized a book of letters from 60 friends and relatives expressing their gratitude for her in their lives. He felt that the pandemic should not get in the way of those in our lives being given the opportunity to connect and express their love. Isn’t that what all of this is about in the end? “This is a fantastic idea!” I said enthusiastically, through text and with heart emojis for emphasis. And then I began to contemplate the task I had before me.
