As Michael did, we can listen and learn from those we’ve wounded. Simultaneously, we need to connect with the wounded parts of ourselves, as we each recognize our culpability and seek to change. We can do this through practices of self-compassion or spiritual practices of confession, repentance, and atonement.

The internet has spurred the sharing of ideas as it was originally intended, but it turns out a lot of people don’t have very substantial ideas

To become known or popular in today’s Internet, you need to write “sensational” articles full of simple words and simple concepts to appeal to the masses.

I’ve come to realize that my judgements stem from my own insecurities

If I judge someone (including myself) to the highest degree, then no one else can first. If I make a hilarious, self-detrimental comment, then people can only laugh with me, not at me. And a lot of the time, they do. I’ve made my friends, my coworkers, random people around me at Starbucks, laugh with the judgmental things I’ve said.

I know what it feels like

Keywords: lifestyle

I know what it feels like to feel alone. I know what it feels like to live in a new city without knowing a single soul. I know what it feels like to be the youngest in the team. I know what it feels like to experience imposter syndrome. I know what it feels to feel like a failure. I know because I’ve been there. You are not alone. You are not a failure. You are knowledgeable. You are smart. You will figure it out. You are made for something greater than you could have ever imagined. Patience is a virtue, but with hard work, anything is possible. As always, if you need to talk, feel free to reach out.

I just developed a phobia of standing on wheels

I realized it’s much more than a hobby – it is a community and lifeline. For some, it has been an escape since childhood. Others start because they like the fashion or look up to famous skateboarders. It felt good to be a woman trying it out because we represent a small portion of riders. Overall though, we all share similarities: as stated by USC, “Skateboarders have this tenacity to practice a trick thousands of times, they are creative, and they have cross-cultural interactions not common in other spaces.”

Now I’m dedicating time to becoming the person I want to be. The person who is utterly unaffected by jealousy or envy, the type of person who says “I’ve had enough and I’m out, I deserve way better.” Hopefully, a wholesome and equal love will enter my life, if I do what’s right for me.

Thirty million people. Each, not just a “number,” but a person. With a story: Moms. Dads. Siblings. Spouses. Sons and daughters. Friends. Colleagues. That staggering statistic hits differently when you think about the person behind the number: struggling to pay bills, put food on the table, blowing through savings, or finding themselves having to go to food banks for the first time, ever.

The world needs more honesty, passion, love, and kindness, and I believe the purest emotions and actions come to life and become our reality when we release our hurt, let down our guard, and allow our uniqueness to shine

So marinade in the happy, sweet, calm, joyous moments in life; run from the people who use and abuse you; walk away from the experiences that steal your peace; and forgive quickly and freely (even when undeserved). Our human experience will include beauty and heartbreak, but we have more influence over how our experiences shape us than we give ourselves credit for.
